Board Business

Highlights from the June 21 board meeting:

• Minutes from the May 17 board meeting approved. Treasurer’s report approved.
• Lynn announced the resignations of Linda Cromheecke, vice president, and Shirley Martinelli, treasurer.
• Approved two new members. Membership: 178.
• Indoor: Dinner & Movie with Mike on July 24.
• Dine Out: Dinner with David Harrowe on July 13.
• The annual picnic is Sunday, August 8 at Clark’s Creek Park; music by the Dream Chasers, line dance lesson, games and prizes. Discussed the fee charged to guests. A motion was made to charge $5/guests and use the $5 as a credit toward the price of membership. The reciprocal agreement with United Singles was discussed in relation to the picnic ticket prices; it was determined that the agreement applies only to dances, not all activities. Motion passed with one abstention. Ticket prices: $2 SRC members, $5 guests. Must have a ticket to attend; no day-of-picnic ticket sales; last day to purchase: August 1.
• John will present proposed bylaws changes at the July board meeting so board members can approve for the September membership meeting.
• The audit is still incomplete.
• Discussed the June 19 dance.
• Mike suggested putting reminders in the newsletter so members will start thinking now about stepping forward and running for office in March to serve on the board of directors. Vice president and treasurer responsibilities were reviewed for inclusion in the newsletter.
