Our dance theme on Saturday, January 17 is “Rock ‘n Roll Celebration with Elvis”
Elvis Aaron Presley was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie, was stillborn; this left Elvis to grow up as an only child. His parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948.
His talent, good looks, sensuality, charisma and good humor endeared him to millions, as did the human kindness he demonstrated throughout his life. Known by his first name, he is regarded as one of the most important figures. Elvis passed away on August 16, 1977 at his Graceland home.
We have our very own Elvis! Since 1999, Chuck Gourley has been entertaining audiences, young and old alike, with his ‘Tribute to Elvis’ show, using original sound tracks and an authentic jumpsuit from one of Elvis’ original patterns. Please join us for a short program remembering ‘The King’, starting at 8:30pm, as we celebrate Elvis’ birthday.
Keep Dancing, Klukwali and Debra Holmes
We very much appreciate our Volunteers: They are helpful, contribute their energy to the club and get involved. Volunteering gives us a sense of pride. We would like to personally thank our volunteers who help set up or clean up. As the Dance Directors, we have a sign-up sheet which is located at the sign-in table. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up early, as we only have 10 free dance passes for each dance.
